SeaDrone Inc. Is a Trade Mark Brand born in Silicon Valley in 2014 as a result of an effort of a diverse group of engineers with the same focus and passion: to create a better subsea inspection experience using affordable and reliable robotic hardware and connected mobile software. Like many companies, we began with humble beginnings with first prototypes being built in garages and dorm rooms. We set out to first build underwater vehicles that could be launched and mastered in minutes and that could be equipped to tackle diverse missions and environments. Our broader mission has always been to mature underwater technology to enable more rapid development of software solutions and increase the number of effective deployments and promote better decision making.
HISTORY AND MILESTONES
first underwater vehicle
Our CEO built his first underwater vehicle while in high school.
Underwater robotics team
Our CEO, along with his fellow classmates, started the Embry-Riddle underwater robotics team. Their ROV won first place at the National Underwater Robotics Challenge and also competed at the MATE underwater robotics competition.
MTS ROV SCHOLARSHIP
Our CEO, receives MTS (Marine Technology Society) ROV scholarship. He uses the scholarship to build ACURV ROV concept the following year.
Research in cooperative Robots
A research project on underwater cooperative robotics, sponsored by the Ronald E. McNair Summer Research Program.
Testing in the dorms
SeaDrone Inc. is founded by Shuyun Chung and Eduardo Moreno, who befriended each other while working at the Stanford AI Robotics Lab.
The first SeaDrone vehicle is born. With everything lovingly assembled by hand, the 3D-printed vehicle works great!
The SeaDrone camera design and lighting concepts are refined. Customers test the vehicle in the field.
The SeaDrone Inspector vehicle is first introduced to the general public at Techcrunch Disrupt New York.
first SeaDrones ship
Inspector 1 was the first vehicle that we shipped. We still interact with customers who continue to use Inspector 1 to this day.
SeaDrone Inc. opens a manufacturing line in Mexico in order to meet demand.
SeaDrone 2 Launch
We launch Inspector 2 with interchangeable battery packs and an increased top speed.
Geographic Sales Expansion
We expand shipping to 32 countries, including the European Union, Australia, and Chile.
SeaDrone 3 Launch
We focused on improving the entire user experience from operating to maintaining the vehicle. Depth rating is increased to 150 m and top speed to 2.5 knots.
